US Military A Victim Of Fiscal Cliff Talks?

As a nation the US must keep a strong military presence, even if it's never used. As a person we all have things we almost never need; insurance, guns for protection, Smoke detectors, home security systems. We have them in case we need them. How many people with guns for home protection have never had them out of the holster except for target practice at a shooting range? Most of them. That's a good thing, but an even better thing is that they have the gun and are prepared to use it for their own safety.
As a nation we have to have the same preparedness. It would be great if our military never had to use their weapons. It would be horrible to have an untrained, unprepared military. If America ever comes under attack we must be prepared. The less prepared we are the more our enemies will see we are vulnerable. Why would anyone looking out for The United States put us in harms way by cutting spending to the military?
It's a question that seriously needs to be asked. And not put away until a satifactory answer is received.
