Doomsday Preppers

The other night (in the middle of the night no less) I watched three episodes back to back of "Doomsday Preppers." In one sense I found it interesting, and somewhat helpful. Some of the information would be helpful in just about any emergency situaton. We all should be prepared for disruptions in food transport or electricity, etc. What struck me odd was how obscure some of these senarios were that seemed to monopolize the thoughts of some of the preppers. People actually moved because of a fear of rising water tables...they lived inland. Another person on the east coast is obsessed with a volcano that may erupt in the next 10,000 years...out west. I understand fears...for years I was sure my death would come (at any moment) by Spontaneous Human Combustion, but it seems that they should also be prepping for more general disasters...flooding...terror attacks...electric grid interruption on a national scale. I mean, while I was certain my demise would be SHC I still looked both ways crossing the street.
